Argentina's Central Bank is taking steps towards implementing a digital peso bill, following a suggestion by Economic Minister Sergio Massa to use digital currency for economic growth. The bank's director, Juan Agustín D'Attellis Noguera, has stated that work has begun on the legislative framework for the digital peso, and the bill will be presented to the country's legislature as soon as possible. Noguera supports the use of a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) and criticizes the use of private cryptocurrencies and dollarization. He believes that the digital peso will aid tax collections by allowing for traceability of transactions. The push for a digital peso comes as Argentina faces high inflation rates and politicians explore alternative methods to stimulate economic growth. Pro-Bitcoin candidate Javier Milei blames politicians and the central bank for the country's financial problems, while Massa advocates for the CBDC as a solution and opposes dollarization.
