Yuga Labs is investigating eye-related issues reported by attendees of their ApeFest event in Hong Kong. The attendees experienced burns, eye damage, and severe pain in their eyes, which they believe were caused by inappropriate lighting, specifically the use of UV lights on the stage. The event gained attention in the crypto community. Some attendees shared their experiences on Twitter, with one individual even ending up in the emergency room. There were speculations that the injuries resulted from improper lighting at the event. Many tweets suggested that the symptoms were consistent with Photokeratitis. Proximity to intense lighting on the main stage likely contributed to the eye problems. Some users referenced a similar incident six years ago at a party organized by HypeBeast in Hong Kong. Yuga Labs is taking the reports seriously and actively communicating with those affected. They are investigating the root cause of the issues, and the number of affected individuals represents less than 1% of the event attendees. Most affected attendees are showing signs of improvement, but the effects of UV lights can last from a few hours to a few days.
