The High Court in Montenegro has rejected Do Kwon's appeal in his document forgery case. The court found that the claims made in the appeal by Kwon and his co-conspirator were unfounded. Kwon and his accomplice were arrested in March 2023 at Montenegro's main airport for attempting to board a plane with falsified passports. Kwon had been evading authorities since the crash of his cryptocurrency coins in May 2022, hiding out in various locations across Asia and Europe. South Korea had issued a warrant for his arrest, and Interpol later issued a red notice. Kwon was ultimately caught in Montenegro and sentenced to four months for document forgery. He is currently wanted for extradition by both the United States and South Korea. The prison where he is currently housed has a history of poor conditions. The timing and destination of his extradition are currently unknown.
