An NFT trading card of NBA star Victor Wembanyama was sold for over $110,000, breaking the previous record of $67,333 for his physical trading card. The NFT card, released by Sorare, the officially licensed fantasy basketball game, was purchased for 61.182 ETH. This unique single-edition card is now owned by the auction winner "YNWA." The sale showcases the popularity of Wembanyama as a rising star in the league and the advantages of digital collectibles over physical ones. Sorare, a cryptocurrency-based fantasy sports game, allows collectors to purchase NFT digital player cards and earn rewards based on their real-life performances. The platform has achieved over $713 million in NFT sales and received significant funding, valuing it at $4.3 billion. Sorare NBA previously set a record with the sale of an NFT featuring Giannis Antetokounmpo for 113.9 ETH. The platform has also attracted famous athletes like Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi, and Serena Williams as investors and brand ambassadors.
