Javier Milei, a pro-Bitcoin candidate, did not win in the first round of voting in Argentina's presidential elections. Sergio Massa, the Economic Minister, won the first round with 36.6% of the votes, while Milei came in second with 30% of the total votes. Patricia Bullrich came in third with 23.8% of the votes. Milei's supporters expected him to win outright, but he will now participate in a runoff election with Massa on November 19. The results were unexpected, as Milei had won the most votes in the primary elections. The main issue in the election is the country's struggling economy, with Milei advocating for the abolition of the central bank and the use of the US dollar, while Massa supports the idea of a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) to spur economic growth. The Argentine Central Bank has also expressed support for the CBDC. Milei urged his supporters to celebrate the progress they have made and emphasized the need for change, while Massa promised a new phase in the country's history.
