Singapore has established two task forces to help the police deal with crimes related to cryptocurrencies. These task forces consist of around 20 prosecutors and have been set up by the Attorney-General's Office. The Deputy Chief Prosecutor of the Attorney-General's Chambers, Ong Shouren, explained that law enforcement agencies are facing growing pressure to understand how criminals use technology, leading to new forms of crime. He emphasized the need for prosecutors to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively tackle these emerging technology-driven crimes. The two task forces established are the Technology Crime Working Group, responsible for addressing computer or technology-assisted crimes, and the Cryptocurrency Task Force, focused on the challenges associated with virtual currencies. Collaboration with the Singapore Police Force and technology companies is also a crucial aspect of combating cybercrime and addressing technological advancements.
