A woman from South Korea has been given a suspended jail sentence after stealing her ex-husband's cryptocurrency stash worth $1.3 million. The woman, aged 32, took the coins from her ex-partner's crypto wallet following the end of their common-law marriage. The Incheon District Court found her guilty of violating the Act on the Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization, as well as fraud under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes. However, the judge decided to suspend her 18-month prison sentence for two years. The woman "broke into" her ex's wallet using a desktop PC at his home, then transferred the crypto holdings to a wallet on her mobile phone. The court determined that she took advantage of her ex-husband's trust to steal a large amount of his property. The confiscated coins were returned to the ex-husband. In previous cases, a civil servant who stole public funds for crypto investments received a suspended jail sentence and probation, while a government worker escaped with $2.8 million of public funds for crypto investments.
