The trial of an individual accused of fraudulently convincing victims to invest in an art-themed altcoin and NFTs is currently taking place in South Korea. The suspect, identified as Tak, allegedly defrauded 13 victims out of approximately $2.1 million and received an additional $318,000 from investors for the purpose of purchasing a crypto trading firm. Tak also claimed to make proxy investments in Ethereum and posed as a successful crypto investor. It was revealed in court that Tak attempted to halt the investigation by paying a legal broker over $830,000. However, Tak denied any wrongdoing and argued that the payment was a legitimate transaction. The trial is set to resume on January 8. In unrelated news, South Korea's largest retailer, Emart, announced that their next-generation ATMs may offer crypto trading functions.
