China has unveiled its new advanced internet network, which is said to be the fastest in the world, operating at speeds that can transfer data from 150 movies in just one second. While these speeds won't be available to consumers anytime soon, the network has significant implications for businesses, information transfers, stock trading, and national security. The network was launched in collaboration with Huawei, China Mobile, Tsinghua University, and Cernet, and it runs on optic fiber cables between Beijing and the south. The network has been operational since this summer, two years ahead of expert predictions. Chinese President Xi Jinping has stated that the development of this network will establish China as a cyber power and accelerate the promotion of core internet technologies. However, since this network doesn't directly affect home internet speeds, it does not pose a direct threat to the US. Nonetheless, it could provide a foundation for Chinese businesses that require high bandwidth. The network is hailed as the most advanced in the world and was independently made and controlled by China. This launch coincides with President Biden's meeting with President Xi Jinping, following months of tension between the two countries.
