US consumer price inflation in October slowed down after increasing for the past two months. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 3.2% for the 12 months ending in October, compared to 3.7% in September. On a monthly basis, prices remained unchanged for the first time since July 2022. Economists had expected a 0.1% increase for the month and a 3.3% increase year-over-year. The Core CPI, which excludes food and energy categories, increased by 0.2% monthly and 4% annually, marking the lowest yearly increase since September 2021. This is positive news for underlying inflation. The story is still developing and will be updated.
