EV, hybrid and gas-powered: Some interesting cars coming in 2024

today 12/23/2023
Next year, there will be the introduction of both affordable and luxurious electric vehicles, as well as the revival of some classic models. One of the affordable options is the Chevrolet Equinox EV, which will stand out for its price starting at around $30,000. It will be a different SUV from the regular Equinox, sharing engineering with other GM electric vehicles. The Volvo EX30 will also be a cheap electric option and the least expensive Volvo model available. It will have a base price of $35,000 and offer up to 275 miles of range. The Volkswagen ID. Buzz, a fully-electric version of the VW Microbus, will be sold in the US with more space and a standard third row of seats. The Cadillac Celestiq, on the other hand, will be a highly customizable electric vehicle with prices starting at around $300,000. The Toyota Land Cruiser will be returning to the US market as a smaller retro-styled SUV, competing with the Jeep Wrangler and Ford Bronco. It will be available only as a hybrid, starting at around $55,000. Ferrari is also entering the SUV market with the Purosangue, which has a high seating position but no off-road capability. Powered by a V12 engine, it will start at around $400,000. The Ram 1500 Rev and Ramcharger will be released late next year, with the Rev being the Ram brand's first fully electric truck and the Ramcharger being a plug-in hybrid with a greater EV-only range than most. Finally, the Honda Prologue will be Honda's first mainstream EV model, built using GM's Ultium EV technology, with prices starting close to $50,000.

Japan'€™s Nikkei 225 surpasses all-time high reached in 1989

Pedestrians in Tokyo observed a surge in the value of shares on Japan's Nikkei 225 on February 22, 2024. The Nikkei 225 surpassed its all-time peak during trading, briefly reaching 39,029, exceeding the previous record set in 1989. The rally was driven by a rise in chip stocks, particularly after US chipmaker Nvidia reported strong earnings. The market had a successful year in 2023, with the Nikkei up 28%, and so far in 2024, the index has jumped 17%. The weak yen is a key factor in driving the stock market up, benefiting Japanese exporters and making shares cheaper for foreign investors. Demand for AI is also boosting the outlook for Japanese technology companies. To sustain the rally, Japan will need to deepen its corporate governance reforms to enhance shareholder returns.
