Huawei has introduced its new electric vehicle, the Luxeed S7, which is aimed at competing with Tesla. The Chinese tech company has started accepting preorders for the sedan, with a starting price of 258,000 yuan ($35,400) during the presales period. Regular sales will begin on November 28. Huawei claims that the S7 will surpass Tesla's Model S in every specification, although some performance metrics have not been fully released. The S7 stands out with its 800-volt platform, which allows for fast charging. It also boasts an 800-volt battery pack made by Chinese EV battery giant CATL. According to Huawei, a 15-minute charge will provide a driving range of 400 kilometers (249 miles), surpassing Tesla's Model S range after a similar charging period. The S7 is significantly cheaper than Tesla's most basic Model S in China. Despite facing export restrictions and challenges in recent years, Huawei aims to make a comeback and establish a presence in the automotive industry. The company previously launched its first EV in 2021 and has received a high number of preorders for its electric SUV, the Aito M7. The Luxeed S7 is designed with features that cater to female consumers.
