SAG-AFTRA reveals terms of 'groundbreaking' deal
The actors union SAG-AFTRA has announced the details of a new labor agreement with Hollywood studios. The deal includes significant raises, increased benefits, and protections related to artificial intelligence. The union had reached a tentative agreement earlier in the week to end their historic strike. The agreement still needs to be ratified by union members before it takes effect. The contract includes $1 billion in new wages and benefit funding, a participation bonus for actors on streaming shows, and a 7% raise in minimum payments. The deal also includes provisions for consent and compensation for the use of artificial intelligence, as well as increased pension and health caps. The strike, which lasted for four months, has now ended, allowing union actors to resume work. The Writers Guild of America had also been on strike simultaneously with SAG-AFTRA, and their members ratified a new contract with similar terms.
