Toyota is recalling over 1.8 million RAV4 vehicles from model years 2013-2018 due to a fire risk caused by replacement batteries that are not the correct dimensions. If these batteries are not securely tightened, they could move and potentially start a fire when the vehicle makes sharp turns. Toyota is currently developing a solution that will involve replacing the battery hold-down clamp, battery tray, and positive terminal cover free of charge for affected owners. The company will notify owners in December, and they can check if their vehicle is affected by entering the vehicle information number or license plate information on the Toyota or National Highway Traffic Safety Administration websites.
