The United Auto Workers union president, Shawn Fain, informed members that all three automakers have offered record contracts. However, he stated that the union will continue the strike in order to obtain even better deals. Fain emphasized that there is still more to be achieved, despite the already record-breaking offers. General Motors (GM) recently disclosed the details of its latest offer, which includes a 10% immediate pay raise and additional pay increases over the contract's duration. GM also proposed a return of the cost-of-living adjustment to wages and an improvement in company contributions to 401(k) retirement plans. However, they did not offer a return to the traditional pension plan for workers hired since 2007, which was a key demand from the union. GM and Stellantis did not comment directly on Fain's remarks, while Ford has not responded to the request for comment.
