The Fantom Foundation has given a $1.7 million reward to a security researcher who discovered a potential breach that could have resulted in $170 million in losses. The organization received a tip after experiencing a $550,000 hack in September, and after conducting a swift review, they eliminated the risks of a hack. The compromised wallet contained a major admin token for Fantom's ERC20 FTM contract, which could have been exploited for more tokens on Ethereum. The foundation praised the researcher's work and urged the community to continue improving the project's security. In a separate incident, the foundation was hacked for $550,000 in October, but most of the funds in the wallet were unaffected. The platform has previously experienced a hack resulting in $126 million in losses due to an exploit on the multi-chain bridge. Blockchain platforms often offer security bounties to incentivize the community to protect the network.
