The trial of Avraham Eisenberg, who is accused of exploiting Mango Markets, has been postponed at the request of his lawyers. The trial was originally scheduled for December 4, 2023, but has now been rescheduled for April 8, 2024. Eisenberg's legal team requested the delay after he was transferred to a different prison, which they argue has affected their preparation time. Prosecutors, however, oppose the delay, stating that Eisenberg committed the alleged offenses alone and that the defense has had enough time to prepare. Eisenberg is facing charges brought by the Department of Justice, SEC, and CFTC for his alleged $116 million exploitation of Mango Markets. If convicted of wire fraud, he could be sentenced to up to 20 years in prison. In a separate case, Sam Bankman-Fried, the founder of FTX, has been found guilty of fraud, conspiracy, and money laundering. He faces a maximum sentence of 115 years in prison. However, other individuals involved in the fraudulent activities may receive little to no prison time for cooperating with authorities. They may still be required to return ill-gotten gains and make restitution payments to victims.
