Harvard University is under investigation by the Department of Education following a federal civil rights complaint filed on behalf of Muslim and Palestinian students who claim they were not protected from harassment and intimidation. The investigation adds to the existing scrutiny on the university regarding alleged incidents of antisemitism and Islamophobia. The complaint, filed by the Muslim Legal Fund of America, represents numerous students who faced threats and discrimination based on their Palestinian, Arab, Muslim, and pro-Palestinian rights identities. Harvard has not yet commented on the investigation. The complaint alleges that students seeking help from Harvard were met with resistance and even threats from individuals in positions of power. In response, Harvard's Interim President launched a task force to address Islamophobia and anti-Arab bias on campus. Instances of antisemitic and Islamophobic acts have been increasing at Harvard, causing a diminished sense of belonging among affected groups. In October, the names and faces of Harvard students associated with an anti-Israel statement were displayed on a mobile billboard truck near campus.
