Autonomous vehicle startup May Mobility has launched its first fully driverless ride service in Sun City, Arizona. Retirees in the community can now request a ride in a Toyota Sienna minivan through the Via app. The service aims to provide transportation options for older individuals who may be unable to drive or have limited mobility. May Mobility's driverless rides are currently free and monitored by a team of remote operators. The company plans to expand its driverless services beyond the test group in the future. May Mobility has partnered with retirement communities, cities, and transit agencies to address transportation gaps. The startup has faced scrutiny in the past regarding issues such as vehicle accommodations for riders with disabilities and weather conditions.
