Noah Shachtman, the hardworking editor known for scrutinizing the wealthy and influential, has announced his resignation as editor-in-chief of Rolling Stone. He stated that he is proud of the accomplishments made during his tenure but cited differences with Rolling Stone's CEO, Gus Wenner. Shachtman will step down on March 1 but will continue to contribute as a writer for the magazine. Rolling Stone will begin the search for a new editor and in the meantime, Sean Woods and Lisa Tozzi will lead the editorial team. Shachtman had aimed to modernize the magazine's culture and expand its coverage of politics. He also expressed a willingness to confront influential figures in the music industry. Rolling Stone has recently faced controversy due to sexist and racist comments made by Jann Wenner, the co-founder of the magazine.
