Two Jewish students from the University of Pennsylvania have filed a lawsuit against the institution, accusing it of fostering anti-Jewish hatred, harassment, and discrimination. The students claim that the university has violated the Civil Rights Act by failing to address the hostile environment on campus, which has put Jewish and Israeli students at risk. The lawsuit highlights specific incidents where the university allegedly failed to enforce its policies and protect Jewish students, particularly after the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel. The plaintiffs recount instances of harassment and violence directed at Jewish students by pro-Palestine protestors. The suit also alleges that Penn's faculty has deliberately targeted Jewish students with harassment. The students are seeking legal action to prevent the university from implementing discriminatory policies, as well as compensation and punitive damages. The lawsuit comes amid controversy over President Liz Magill's handling of campus antisemitism, which has sparked calls for her removal.
