A woman who threw a bowl of hot food at a Chipotle worker's face has been sentenced to one month in jail and two months working in a fast food job. The incident, in which Rosemary Hayne berated and assaulted Emily Russell, went viral on social media. Hayne pleaded guilty to the assault charge and was given the option of jail time or working in a fast food job. She chose the latter. Hayne has yet to find a job, and her attorney says she is remorseful and should be given a chance to move on from this incident. The judge believes she will have no trouble finding employment and sees her actions as a loss of control. This is the first time the judge has given this type of sentence, although similar incidents have come before him in the past. The health and safety of employees is a priority for Chipotle, who responded to the case by stating that justice was served. Russell, the victim, is still dealing with the trauma and has quit her job at Chipotle. A fundraising effort has been started for her, raising $7,300 so far. Hayne is also required to pay a fine and will be on probation for two years. The judge questions Hayne's sincerity, as she was still complaining about the food during the hearing.
